In Gondwana Sperrgebiet Rand Park, which covers 510 km², the Succulent Karoo can be experienced at close quarters – it is the most biodiverse desert on earth. After sufficient winter rains (July to September), the desert displays a blaze of colours as it transforms into a carpet of flowers. Therefore this area is also called 'Namibia’s Namaqualand'.
